Healing Model of Intervention

We all know someone that has a mental health issue or an addiction. Addiction  can be but not limited to; illicit or prescribed drugs, alcohol, food, love/sex, gaming and or gambling. If you are here, chances are the issue is closer than you'd like it to be and affecting quality of life for you and your loved ones. This modified "Love First" model of intervention uses several goals to achieve the desired effect for each family. There are no cookie cutter approaches, as each family is unique. Our goal is to heal and protect family relationships so the addicted person has a solid support system. A typical process requires 2, 2-3 hour training sessions followed by a non confrontational family structured intervention. The documentary "Pleasure Unwoven " by Dr Kevin McCauley is a beautiful depiction of the disease model of addiction. This may be a useful tool in understanding your addicted loved one.
